Our Club
and its Mission
MPS
is Dade County’s
oldest all-female soccer organization. The club
was founded in 1998 as a non-profit 501c corporation
by a group of volunteer parents looking to broaden opportunities
for young females through the practice of soccer. MPS
has traditionally drawn female soccer players from many
different demographic and socio-economic backgrounds.
For the fourth year in a row, MPS was the most highly
represented club in the 2007 Miami Herald
All-Dade Girls Soccer Awards where MPS players received
a total of 28 distinctions.
The Club’s mission is to provide the highest
level of competitive soccer for girls who possibly intend
to play at the collegiate level, helping those interested
in obtaining scholarships. Since its inception, MPS
has been able to send a total of 48 female soccer
players to colleges and universities by actively
helping them gain exposure to recruiting college coaches
at major tournaments. MPS was able to obtain financial
aid or scholarships from colleges/universities of their
choice for 10 of its 13 senior graduating players during
the 2004-05 season.
To ensure the quality of its program, MPS only hires
coaches who are licensed by the USSF, there is no parent
coaching allowed.
The club currently has 9 competitive traveling soccer
teams for girls ages 10 to 18. Some of the club’s
teams compete at State Cup level and all of them participate
in FLUGSA (Florida United Girls Soccer Association) league.
MPS’teams routinely qualify for the highest-level national
tournaments such as CASL Shootout Raleigh,
NC; Atlanta Cup, GA; NorcrossNike Cup, GA; Texas Shootout,
TX; Texas Lightning, TX; Tulsa, OK; Gator Showcase Gainesville,
FL; Disney Shootout and OrangeClassic, FL.
Each of the club's teams is responsible for its own
fundraising to be able to attend tournaments and cover
its travel and transportation expenses.
