For the second year in a row, MPS players dominate the All-Dade Girls Soccer Awards
Miami , 8 March 2005 – For the second year in a row, MPS (Miami Premier Soccer Club) dominates the Miami Herald All-Dade Girls Soccer Awards. MPS, Dade County’s oldest all-girls soccer organization, is proud to announce that 27 of its players were picked to receive distinctions in the 2005 All-Dade high school soccer award list.
Every year, Dade County’s top High School Girl Soccer players are honored by the Miami Herald’s All-Dade Awards. Players from high schools throughout the county, both public and private, compete every year for these prestigious nominations which recognize the effort and success of outstanding players in the sport of girl’s soccer. Local soccer coaches evaluate and nominate players, who are then judged on their performance throughout the year.
Recipients of the All-Dade Awards proudly incorporate this achievement into their “player profiles”, which become extremely important for recruiting purposes when they are reviewed by college coaches at tournaments. MPS’ soccer program complements and enhances the efforts of high school coaches by offering a year-round program run by professionals and with a high level of competition, thus further improving the skills of student athletes throughout the year.
MPS currently fields four teams with players old enough to qualify for the All-Dade awards, and every one of these teams contributed players to the 2005 distinctions. Every single player on MPS’ 18A team was selected for an All-Dade award (9 of them for First Team, 2 of them for Second Team, one for Third Team and 3 for Honorable Mention). MPS’ 16A team contributed with 9 awards (2 First Team, 3 Second Team, 3 Third Team and one Honorable Mention). MPS’ 18B team contributed with 2 awards (Honorable Mentions) and MPS’ 15 team had one player selected for Honorable Mention.
MPS has traditionally had strong representation in the All-Dade awards, the club dominated the list in 2004, and several of its players usually move on to become All-State.
